The Viseu Youth Hostel is privately managed by Adamastor, Cultural Association.
Rules and conditions for the use and operation of Viseu Youth Hostel
Access and identification
Clauses 1 to 4
1. Anyone, regardless of age, may use Viseu Youth Hostel.
2. Services at Viseu Youth Hostel are provided through a purchase or booking. The holder must have either a Youth Hostel Card or an E.Y.C. (European Youth Card).
Note: Information about how to obtain each card and its benefits is available at reception.
3. Guests staying at Viseu Youth Hostel must present a legal identification document. Their personal data is protected in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
4. Any child or young person under 16, even if they hold their own Youth Hostel Card or E.Y.C. Youth Card, must be accompanied by a responsible adult or hold authorisation issued for that purpose.
Rules of use
Clauses 5 to 9
5. Under Law No. 63/2017 of 3 August, smoking, including heated tobacco products and electronic cigarettes as defined in Article 4(3) of that law, is prohibited in enclosed areas of Viseu Youth Hostel. Eating and drinking in bedrooms is also prohibited.
6. No party or social gathering may be held on Viseu Youth Hostel premises without the prior written authorisation of hostel management.
7. Viseu Youth Hostel is pet-friendly. Animals may enter or stay on the premises subject to a prior request.
8. Guests are individually responsible for any damage they cause and accept the associated liability.
9. The kitchen and laundry allow individual guests to prepare light meals and wash clothes, subject to Viseu Youth Hostel’s specific rules.
Rooms, bed linen and towels
Clauses 10 to 12
10. A maximum of one extra bed or cot may be added to a double room. This may incur an additional booking charge.
11. Bath and face towels are provided to all overnight guests.
12. The cleaning service changes bed linen and towels every three days. Viseu Youth Hostel may change this schedule in exceptional circumstances.
Personal belongings
Clauses 13 to 14
13. Adamastor, Cultural Association, as the manager of Viseu Youth Hostel, accepts no responsibility for guests’ personal belongings in the accommodation.
14. Personal belongings left in rooms will be removed following a room change or check-out. They may be collected from reception within 30 days by anyone who can prove rightful ownership.
Accommodation options
Clauses 15 to 18
15. Booking the “bed” service, when available, entitles the purchaser to a bed in a shared room. The room is shared with other guests, who may or may not belong to the same group. Viseu Youth Hostel is responsible for allocating the bed.
16. Booking the “private room” service entitles the purchaser to exclusive use of that room, regardless of how many beds are occupied, up to the room’s maximum bed capacity.
17. Adults booking double rooms with children must book an extra bed, free of charge or with a 50% discount on the retail price where the child is aged between 13 and 16 on the check-out date. Both options are subject to availability at Viseu Youth Hostel.
18. Purchasing the “extra bed” service entitles the customer to an additional bed, increasing the standard capacity of a double room or private shared room.
Bookings and commercial conditions
Clauses 19 to 20
19. Viseu Youth Hostel’s booking policy, covering confirmation, amendment, cancellation and refunds, allows any individual aged 16 or over, or any legal entity, to purchase accommodation or other services by booking under the following terms:
Individual customer bookings:
a. Booking confirmation is subject to payment for the services by the deadline stated in the booking information.
b. Customers may choose refundable or non-refundable rates, where available.
c. Where refundable rates apply:
i. Full or partial cancellation with less notice than the free cancellation period stated in the booking does not entitle the customer to any refund.
ii. Refunds are made by bank transfer or another method agreed with the customer.
d. For non-refundable rates, any full or partial amendment or cancellation of services results in the loss of the full amount paid.
Group bookings:
a. Bookings for 8 or more people are considered group bookings.
b. Booking confirmation is subject to payment of part of the booking amount by the deadline stated in the booking information.
c. Full or partial cancellation of confirmed bookings does not entitle the customer to any refund.
d. Bookings cannot be changed within 15 days of arrival, inclusive.
20. Bookings made directly on the Youth Hostels website, www.pousadasjuventude.pt, are not covered by the commercial conditions of the accommodation programmes available at https://pousadasjuventude.pt/pt/programas/.
Opening hours and meals
Clause 21
21. The Youth Hostel’s operating hours are:
a. Check-in: from 14:00 until 00:00.
b. Check-out: by 11:00.
c. Cleaning: 08:30 to 17:30.
d. Quiet hours: 23:00 to 08:00.
Meals:
e. Breakfast: 08:00 to 10:00.
f. Lunch*: 12:00 to 15:00.
g. Dinner*: 19:00 to 22:00.
*The kitchen is not available for preparing group meals. A booking for 8 or more people is considered a group.
